In a time where early career jobs see up to 500 applications per place, networking in a professional environment is paramount. The benefits a young person sees, from putting a face / voice to an industry to a recommendation they may be able to provide is the nothing short of life defining.

The value of networking with likeminded professional peers cannot be understated. Forming connections across different sectors can help gain valuable insights, share experiences, and learn from others' expertise or experience. Connections are important and you never know where they may lead - whether that be career opportunities or bonds with new friends!

Having been in the shoes of a sixth-former not too long ago, I know just how beneficial talking to others can be in today’s world. This is particularly true when starting to navigate the dauting path beyond education or higher education.

Whilst considering my high education options, I benefited from an alumna offering me support while applying for university. Now, I understand the impact of offering my time and advice in return. I've experienced how giving back is a true cornerstone of the entire Haberdashers community, providing countless opportunities to young people.

Without Haberdashers, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It’s provided me an education, and a community (which in London is not always the easiest thing to come by).
I often feel immensely guilty when leaving a Haberdashers event that I’ve contributed to,because whether it’s helping to guide a young person, understanding how one of ourschools is getting along, or advising an offender, I get so much out of the processpersonally.
You may feel too young, too old, that your experience isn’t useful, or someone else would bea better fit. In reality, showing up is what really matters.
It’s more possible than ever for us to live a life that’s cosseted and insular. ThroughHaberdashers, we're able to live in the world as it is, and in doing so learn much more aboutit, and ourselves.

Given the help I have received from the Company and my school over the years, this is a great opportunity to repay that debt. Knowing that I may be able to help a young adult who could’ve been in a similar position I would’ve been when growing up, is a great prospect for me.
